Ribbon Guidelines of the Guild of Automation and Systems Technology
1 § Ribbon
The Guild Ribbon is 20 millimetres wide and consists of five horizontal bands of colour. The colours of the bands are, from the outer edge, black, white, violet, white, and black. The ratio of the widths of the bands is 1:1:16:1:1.
2 § Right to Use the Ribbon
Full, alumni, and external members of the Guild of Automation and Systems Technology and the Alderman have the right to use the Guild Ribbon. The Ribbon may not be given to a person who does not have a right to use it. The board of the Guild of Automation and Systems Technology decides on granting the Guild Ribbon and the right to use it to persons who are not members of the association.
3 § Using the Ribbon
The Guild Ribbon may be used
- in academic celebrations;
- while representing the Guild of Automation and Systems Technology; and
- in other situations where using the Ribbon is appropriate.
The Guild Ribbon is worn from the right shoulder down to the left hip. The Guild Ribbon may also be worn as a rosette. The rosette is worn on the right side of a suit jacket. The rosette should have 2-3 knots on both sides.
Use of the Guild Ribbon requires appropriate attire. The Ribbon must be clean and intact. The Ribbon cannot touch bare skin. The ribbons of the Golden Badge and Honorary Member replace the Guild Ribbon.
These ribbon guidelines were approved at a meeting of the Guild of Automation and Systems Technology on 21 May 2026 and took effect immediately. The English translation was done on 1 October 2026 and isn’t an official document. The original Finnish version remains the authoritative version.
